a.) Trimming Margin: After Cutting the parts from stocks, if you want to polish the sides of the parts then some allowance has to be given for the parts. This is included in the trimming margin. This trimming margin is same for all parts.
b.) Saw Kerf: Cutting blade width is called the saw width or saw kerf. This value is added to all the dimensions of the parts in all directions during optimization.
