PLUS Bend also allows you to calculate the K-factor of a new material by using the K-factor wizard tool.
The k-factor for a new material can be calculated on the shop floor.
Take a rectangular blank of the material , whose K-factor is to be calculated
Measure the length of the blank. This is the flat length of the component that you will subsequently bend.
Now bend the blank by 90 degrees to get an L shaped component as shown in the figure.
Measurethe X and Y lengths of the component out to out as shown in the figure.
Through this experiment you have collected the following data: flat length,thickness, bend angle, bend radius, length X, length Y of the bent component.
Feed this data in the K-factor wizard dialog box.
Press the calculate button.
The calculated K-factor will be displayed in the box
